Meet Bill Lamberson — A curling enthusiast, strength seeker, and a prime example of why "going it alone" isn't the only way to win.

In May 2024, Bill moved back to the Arlington area and knew it was time to get back into a fitness routine. In the past, Bill’s go-to move was joining a traditional "globo gym"—the kind where you're left to your own devices with a sea of machines.

The pattern was always the same: he’d start strong, but after two or three months, the routine would taper off. Bill realized the "drop-off" usually happened because of a lack of direction; he wasn't always sure which exercises to do or how to perform them properly. He knew if he wanted to stick with it this time, he needed more than just a key card—he needed a plan and a team.

From Confusion to Coaching

When Bill started his search for a new gym, he prioritized group fitness with a strong coaching component. He knew Graviton was the right fit because of our specific focus on strength training and the hands-on guidance provided in every class. No more guessing games or wandering between machines—just clear goals and the expert coaching needed to reach them.

Finding the "Extra Gear"

The physical gains have been great, but for Bill, the mental shift has been even more impactful. He’s discovered a level of resilience that translates directly to his life outside the gym.

"I can do more than I think I can," Bill says. "Don’t be afraid to push yourself and take on more challenges."

Learning that he has that "extra gear" in a workout has given him the confidence to tackle challenges head-on in his daily life.

The Unexpected Perk: Community

While Bill initially joined for the workouts and the coaching, he found something he didn't even know he was looking for: genuine friendship. He shares that the biggest benefit of being a Graviton member is the community. He didn’t anticipate making so many friends, but he’s found that the gym is filled with "lovely people" who make showing up the best part of his day.

Off the Turf and Onto the Ice

When he isn’t lifting heavy or cheering on his teammates at Graviton, you can find Bill out on the ice! He is an avid fan of curling—a sport that, much like strength training, requires a mix of strategy, balance, and a steady hand.

Whether he’s sweeping the ice or hitting a new PR, Bill is proof that when you stop "going it alone" and start working with a team, the results (and the fun) speak for themselves.
