Meet Marissa Diaz — Roller derby competitor, Committed Club streak-holder, and a prime example of how gym strength translates to on-track dominance.

Marissa has been an integral part of the Graviton community since May 2025. This month, she hit a massive milestone by officially locking in her 6-Month Committed Club streak! That means for half a year straight, Marissa has consistently crushed her monthly class attendance goals without missing a beat.

When she isn’t putting in work on the gym turf, she is usually laced into quad skates and bracing for impact. Outside of the gym, Marissa plays roller derby competitively. She is a dedicated skater for Boston Roller Derby, skating locally for the home team, the Wicked Pissahs, as well as representing the city on their competitive travel team.

From Cross-Training to Community

Marissa initially walked through our doors with a clear, athletic mission: she wanted a place to cross-train to supplement the intense physical demands of roller derby. But over her time here, she found far more than just a workout routine.

Once she started attending classes regularly, Marissa realized Graviton was the perfect fit. She credits our coaching staff with keeping her motivated, pushing her progress forward, and making her genuinely excited to show up every week.

But the coaches are only part the equation. Marissa shares that the other members are a massive source of inspiration for her. The sheer dedication shown by everyone in the room creates a high-energy, motivating group environment that she looks forward to. For Marissa, that team-like class atmosphere is one of the absolute biggest reasons she stays so consistent.

Punching a Ticket to Regionals

That consistency paid off in a massive way on the track. One of Marissa’s biggest recent athletic accomplishments was competing in the Northeast Regionals with her roller derby team.

Riding the line between elite endurance and explosive power is no easy feat in her sport, and Marissa is quick to point out that her time under the barbell made all the difference. Marissa shares that she truly doesn't think she could have achieved her regional tournament goal without the training and conditioning she built right here at Graviton.

The Law of Effort

When we asked Marissa what her biggest takeaway has been from her time at the gym, she kept it simple and direct:

"Through dedication and putting in the effort, you are gonna get the results."

Whether she is blocking opposing skaters on the track or logging another week in the Committed Club, Marissa proves that hard work isn't a guessing game—it's a guarantee. We are so incredibly proud to help fuel her athletic journey!
