Angie Freire, Member Spotlight

Meet Angie Freire, one of our amazing Graviton members! Originally from Miami, Florida, Angie is a 36-year-old corporate events planner who has embraced her fitness journey with enthusiasm since joining us about a year ago.

After moving to Boston from New York City, Angie was really nervous about finding a new gym. She recalls, “I think I searched for weeks and weeks and I just kept coming back to this place.” After signing up for a free trial, she said, “I was immediately hooked. I love the classes, I immediately got an amazing feeling from the coaches and the community.”

Angie works out for her mental health and overall well-being. “I also really like seeing my progress over the weeks and months,” she shares. Since joining, she has “lost ten pounds, but also gained a tremendous amount of muscle.” She loves tracking her progress: “I’m lifting heavier than I ever thought that I could, and I absolutely love that; it’s super exciting.”

Working from home can feel isolating, and as a fully remote employee, Angie has felt those effects but also has found joy at Graviton. “One of the highlights of my day is always coming to a class and being surrounded by this amazing community, awesome workouts, and fantastic, caring coaches,” she explains. “It’s really helped me through that, and it’s something that I just really look forward to.”

Outside the gym, Angie loves reading, traveling, and dragging her loved ones against their will to karaoke.” Her go-to song? “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey. “I just feel like it’s a classic,” she says.

Angie’s advice for newcomers is simple: “Just do it. I am literally the queen of coming to class and telling the coaches they’re not getting my best, but they’re getting my best today.” She encourages everyone to take that leap: “You’re always going to have an amazing time and you’re going to surprise yourself at the end of the workout.” She adds, “The community is fantastic, supportive. You can go to anyone and ask them how to do a certain exercise and they’ll jump in and be thrilled to help you out.”

We are thrilled to have Angie as part of our Graviton community as a champion of both mental health and physical well-being and as a role model for consistently showing up, even when it’s hard. Cheers to more hours in the gym and on the karaoke stage!
